 This Issue marks the 30^th anniversary since the passing of the original apostle to the ‘Philadelphian era’ of the Church, Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong 1892—1986  

“In the Willamette Valley, they waited. It was nearly time, for the baton to change again into the hands of those God would call to do His end-time work. As mankind reached the end of six thousand years of Satan’s misrule of the earth, God’s Church had to be ready for a new and critical phase of God’s end-time work! Jesus had prophesied that before the end could come, the true gospel of the Kingdom must be preached to all the world as a witness.

As mans knowledge increased, the technology began to be developed by which a ‘Voice’ could indeed ‘Cry Out’ and be heard around the world. The family genealogy has been preserved through the Culp Foundation and can be traced back to Princess Joan the daughter of Edward the First, the King of England between 1272 and 1307. And thus, through a royal line can be traced back to King David of ancient Israel. As a young man of age eighteen, Herbert Armstrong became unusually successful in the field of magazine and newspaper advertising. At age twenty five he was married to Loma Dillon an Iowa school teacher”.

Behold, I will send you ‘Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And He shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse [utter destruction] (Mal. 4: 5-6). We have been living in that time! When except those days should be shortened there should no flesh be saved alive (Matt. 24: 22).  

Reflections….

Since the days of the original apostles nothing remotely comes close to the massive ‘restoration of the truth’ that has taken place during this end-time era of God’s one-true- church. Indeed, exactly as Christ said and right on time: “Elijah truly shall come and restore all things” (Matt. 17: 11). Nothing since the time of Christ and the original apostles compares to the massive ‘restoration of truth’ that has gone on beginning in January of 1934 and even to our time. For the book was sealed and shut up until the time of the end: many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall be increased (Dan. 12: 4). Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong assisted by men such as; Herman L. Hoeh, Raymond F. McNair, Roderick C. Meredith and many others including his sons, accomplished so much in establishing the most dynamic ministry in our time—indeed there has been nothing quite like it!

And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come (Matt. 24: 14). In so doing, God’s one true end-time Church has been fulfilling the Great Commission which is dual, of ‘preach the gospel’ and ‘feed the flock’. In so doing, this has been facilitating the ongoing fulfilment of the Elijah commission, that of: ‘preparing the way before Me’ (Mal. 3: 1). The ‘voice of one crying in the spiritual wilderness of religious confusion’ (Isaiah 40: 3).  ‘Making ready a people’ (Luke 1: 17) the Church, for the imminent return of the great, majestic and glorified Christ!

We have not finished yet, for the end has not yet come—we must continue the exceedingly short race, in assisting Christ, so that He can now ‘finish the work and cut it short in righteousness’ (Rom. 9: 28).

With the ever quickening pace of  catastrophic massive out of control world events lining up and on a daily basis, we are so obviously running out of time  as this age is coming to a very soon climactic end.

From the so-called transformative socialist revolutionary (big government controlled) societies taking hold in the west, and strangling the foundational bedrock values (the Judeo-Christian ethic) from our national psyche and consciousness. To the resultant accelerated pace of the anti-God and fascist—Islamification  of our western world as being embraced, and enforced by an elite, ‘progressive’ and now mainstream entrenched socialist political academic majority (which is so morally ‘bankrupt’) we are so obviously running out of time—and fast!

With mad Iranian Mullahs very close to getting their hands on ‘the bomb’ and facilitated by a weakened west, thus now finally being at the cusp of being able to bring on their new world order—with the middle east literally exploding before our eyes—how long until this international unravelling explodes into a maelstrom of chaos and collapse?

And now, the leader of the largest historical so called ‘Christian church’ acting more and more like a politician than a patriarch—is beginning to have a major influence on the world political agenda—driven by the same morally bankrupt (and failed) ideas of the now institutionalized elites.

From the dismemberment of the unborn and even aborted at birth, for sale as fetal tissue now being sold to the highest bidder—and because of the inconvenience, the majority in our culture cannot even blush. Our hard hearted and cold attitudes almost make some of the worlds worst despots look like angels—even George Orwell could not have predicted this!

With a national and world debt crisis spinning out of control—the international financial and banking system on the verge of collapse—and dangerous new military alliances being redrawn—we are now inching toward armageddon!

We are very quickly now witnessing first hand the clock being run out on this present  end of an age and the beginning of a new age—that is the wonderful World Tomorrow.

The signs are evident and all around us—in the depths of despair our peoples will find themselves and discover who and what they really are. It is always darkest before the dawn—may that dawn soon appear!

This Issue is a special celebratory commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the publishing of the book ‘Mystery of the Ages’  (For PDF copy, click here)

But who can understand the Bible? I certainly never had understood it. And even if one does, can one believe the Bible? Does it speak with any authority? That question puzzled me and is the mystery to be cleared up in this volume. How I came to understand  began at age 34, in the year 1926. But it only began there. The final crystal – clear reason that impelled me to write this book did not fully reveal itself to my mind until December of 1984. It was a mind – boggling realization—a pivotal truth—that will be made clear in this book.

[Time] may prove this to be the most important book written in almost 1,900 years. Not because of literary excellence or flowery language of scholarship that it has purposely avoided, but because of its plainness of speech in clarifying the most important knowledge ever revealed from the supreme source of understanding of that which has mystified all humans since man first appeared on earth.

All these mysteries were long ago revealed by the one supreme authority of all knowledge, but in a coded message not to be revealed and decoded until our time.

I have often said it is much more difficult to unlearn an erroneous truth than it is to learn a new truth. Even in these past 58 years I had not fully and clearly realized the significance of the fact revealed in Genesis 3: 22-24—that, in fact, God had closed the Holy Spirit and eternal life to mankind in general until the removal of Satan at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Traditional Christian teaching had always assumed there is a contest between God and Satan—that God has been trying desperately to “get the world saved,” but in this great controversy Satan has been winning. In other words, God had sent Jesus Christ at his First Coming to try to win this ongoing war against Satan. Traditional Christianity has taught that “whosoever will may come” and be “saved” through Jesus.

For some years I had come to partially realize the error of this assumption, but the full truth on this point had not come crystal clear to me until very recently. This truth is indeed mind – boggling. It clears what had been clouded in mystery.

It is hoped that this book, written since God’s time for it has come, will open many eyes to the truth of these long hidden mysteries.

And now in my 93^rd year, I have been led to write this book before this event – packed life ends, to share with as many care to know, the answers that the supreme mind of God reveals in his word—if one is only willing to understand that word.                                                                      Authors Statement—Mystery of the Ages—Herbert W. It is the [duty] of Christ’s TRUE ministers (and how few they are today) to [PROTECT] the begotten but yet unborn saints from false doctrines and false ministers.

 Reflections….

 For those few Philadelphians who have managed to somehow ‘stay on track’ for now these thirty long years—the thirtieth anniversary since the publishing of ‘Mystery of the Ages’ is something to celebrate. But we must still continue to go the exceedingly short distance left in this end-time race, to the now very soon coming of Jesus Christ and the establishing of the Kingdom of God on earth.

And what a thirty years it has been! From the near wholesale destruction of the largest organised Church of God since the time of the early apostles. But as Christ said; “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. Even in the face of major and massive apostasy, God still has His people though scattered and divided.

So His people are waiting for Christ to move to re-establish His true Philadelphians together for one short powerful finish to His work that will be done in righteousness. It could be said that Philadelphians have been tested and are in training to yet accomplish one short very powerful revival of the work of God. And so God’s people wait for their important rendezvous with destiny. May God hasten that time!

A ‘Truth Serum’?

In this upside down, backward, amoral and increasingly dangerous world that we live in, it has become fashionable to expect proven pathological liars to tell the truth, while those who do tell the truth are viewed with suspicion. One of the most evil tyrants of the 20^th Century, Adolf Hitler, was famously quoted, “what dumb luck for rulers that people don’t think”. It is not hard to understand that Nazi propaganda minister or (minister responsible for lying) Joseph Geobbels took full advantage of this. What is it about truth that people seem to be so afraid of?

What if the world were suddenly given a truth serum? If all of a sudden people automatically always told the truth? Upside down would become ‘right side up’, backward would become ‘forward’, amoral would become ‘moral’, and increasingly dangerous would become ‘safe’.

There would no longer be religious hucksters conning people by the millions into believing some convoluted idea that has nothing to do with truth. Politicians would no longer dupe people for their support, all the while plotting to betray their election promises once in office. The so called intelligentsia and leaders of academia would no longer be able to knowingly foist their false failed ideas on the unsuspecting masses, thus bending or shaping their thinking for their own monetary gain and control.

We live in a ‘World Held Captive’ by Satan the devil. There is no truth in him for he is the father of lies. Those who will not tell the truth are unwittingly of their father the devil. This world, through the divine intervention of a ‘strong hand from someplace’ is about to be turned right-side-up!

 Is the day of miracles past? Does the living God heal sickness and disease today upon believing prayer? Or was healing performed only by Christ and the original apostles? Did God raise up medical science for our day?  What about modern faith healers and public healing services?

HEALING IN OUR TIME?

You live in a world that relies primarily on medical doctors to treat illness. Most professing Christians today say:  “God raised up medical science for our day. Jesus healed to prove He was the Messiah. But the day of miracles is now past.” Some, who think God heals through self-professed faith healers, attend public healing shows. Some  believe in healing by one of the forms of “mental science”—the power of mind over matter. Others say: “Well, I think God can heal—if it’s His will. But how can we know whether it’s His will?”

Yes, people say!

But what does God say?

Does He reveal whether He still heals, why He heals, how He heals, whether and when it is His will? For the answers we go to the Bible.

Christ’s Ministry Was Dual

Let’s begin at the beginning. Actually, there are two beginnings, so far as the subject of healing is concerned—one is in the New Testament, with Christ; the other in the Old Testament, with the people of ancient Israel. We shall begin with the ministry of Jesus Christ. Later, many readers will be surprised to learn how much is recorded on the subject throughout the Old Testament.

More than 1,900 years ago—in A.D. 27-31—Jesus Christ appeared on earth as a messenger bearing history’s most important message from God to mankind. His mission was prophesied in Malachi 3: 1.

That message actually was a stupendous NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT. The news was the most transcendent GOOD NEWS! It was the GOSPEL (which means “good news”) of Jesus Christ.

But Jesus’ ministry was a dual ministry. And a miraculous ministry.

Jesus came also healing the sick by divine POWER of God. It was not the power of human mind over matter. Few realize the extent to which healing and casting out demons were an integral part of Jesus’ ministry. Later, the apostles proclaimed His same message and healed the sick.

Gospel Restored

The original one and only true Church of God still lives! And still persecuted, maligned, misrepresented, it is restoring the true gospel of Jesus Christ today! It is sending out that good news worldwide—as a witness for all nations, in real POWER!

And Christ’s doctrine of healing the sick is also being restored. There have been multiple thousands of miraculous healings. But not, in our time, spectacular public displays of sensational miracles to attract both crowds and added persecutions. The REASONS for this and the truth about the whole subject of healing will be made plain in this booklet.

There have been “gospel” programs—scores of them—all over the world. But, as Paul described, they have each been another gospel. Christ’s MESSAGE was suppressed. Christ has been preached to the world—but a different Jesus.

“Jesus Christ makes you Whole” (Acts 9: 34)

1] Read the Plain Truth about Healing booklet (then reread it), in order to get the background and historical perspective.

2] [MUST] accompany the preaching of the one-true-Gospel. Sardis did not; HWA did!

3] Only God can heal! (Biblically speaking) Doctors cannot!! They can manipulate, cut out, alter or help bodily functions to alleviate maladies. But (ONLY GOD) can REMOVE physical sin or penalty and place them on our sin bearer or the broken Body of Christ, prior to His death, (Matt. 8: 16-17). It is impossible for ANY human being or practitioner to do this!!!

4] It is God’s WILL TO HEALà He has PROMISEDà He is our Yahweh Rapha à
the Eternal God our Healer.

5] Be patient! After you claim that promise, you MUST TRUST Him and wait for Him to act.

6] God does not always heal immediately. But He does ALWAYS heal, even if the healing is the resurrection. (James 5: 15) The Lord [SHALL] raise him up…(dual).

7] In the intervening time it is not a sin to use medical human assistance to help alleviate pain, suffering and or discomfort.* Any alteration or physical help that a human being can give is not to be confused with ‘Biblical Healing’! For no human being can remove ‘physical sin’ or broken laws that cause sickness or ill health. ONLY GOD can and does. ONLY God removes these and places them on the broken Body of our Sin Bearer. * NEVER, NEVER, NEVER look to humans as our healer – ONLY ONLY GOD is the DIVINE HEALER and no one else!

8] It can be and would be sin, to the person that really knows and understands this, to substitute humans as our healer in place of God!

9] [Make an open and ongoing list of scriptures that directly pertain to healing.]

10] Operations, cuttings, medicines, knee / hip replacements, surgery, drugs ARE NOT HEALINGS. They are at best physical manipulations, adjustments or alterations. None of these SUPERNATURALLY remove ‘physical sin’. One may even get ‘better’, but it is NOT supernatural divine healing. Do not confuse the two.

11] God does not heal through doctors. He does not remove ‘physical sin’ and place it on Christ through the unbelieving medical profession.

12] He may allow them to provide comfort to someone.

13] God’s word and healings among God’s people PROVE that God is our Healer. What He has done in the past and has continued to do PROVES that He will still do it! He changes NOT—Jesus Christ the same yesterday today and forever.

14] If you follow these points and come to be healed through anointing and prayer, you will have the kind of BELIEF that is necessary for healing.

15] We MUST not abuse or be reckless with our health and treat Christ’s sacrifice cheaply.

16] Healings in our day and age are so weak and ineffectual because they most often accompany ‘another Jesus, another spirit and another gospel’. Nominal Christianity (perhaps unknowingly) are enemies of the true Gospel.

17] (1Pet. 2: 24) ‘With His strips you were healed’. MANY in the Church in Peter’s day had experienced this tremendous promise, yes and even in Philadelphia!

18] When God directly intervenes on our behalf, it is exciting and JOYFUL. Healing and standing for the truth of the Gospel etc. etc. (Acts 3: 1-8) The lame man going into the temple – Peter’s prayer – his ankle bones were healed – HE LEPT FOR JOY.

19] Physical sin breaks our bodies (as Christ was) but SO DOES SPIRITUAL sin before death!! in this life!! However spiritual sin brings with it the ultimate penalty of death.

20] When anointing and prayer takes place, there always has to be belief and faith, either with the one doing the anointing or the one being anointed, [hopefully both].

21] (Matt. 10: 7-8) After all, it is CHRIST’S work, it is His CHURCH. If He is behind the preaching of the true Gospel, then He will be performing miracles in our day at the time of the end.

Real Purpose of the Church 

Now MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL—what is the REAL PURPOSE for the Church? Why did God have Christ raise it up?

The CHURCH is the spiritual MOTHER of human converts. They are the spiritual embryos and fetuses as yet UNBORN, although begotten by God’s Holy Spirit—already children of God.

The CHURCH is God’s spiritual ORGANISM, well organized, for feeding on spiritual food, training and developing in spiritual righteous CHARACTER the future God Beings—sons of God the Father!

For that training—that spiritual development of God’s CHARACTER, God has given His church a dual responsibility.

1) “Go ye into all the world” and proclaim the GOOD NEWS—announcement—of the comingkingdomofGod.

2) “Feed my sheep”.

But in FEEDING the “sheep”, developing in them God’s spiritual CHARACTER, God has given them THEIR PART in supporting, backing up, the great commission: “Go ye into all the world.”

This first and great commission was given to the apostles. To a lesser extent evangelists were used in carrying forth the message. Other leaders—ordained ministers—were stationary, yet even the local pastor of a church may hold evangelistic services in his area—not the “soul-saving crusade” type, but lectures ANNOUNCING and PROCLAIMING as a witness the coming KINGDOM of God (the true gospel)!

This ENTIRE GREAT COMMISSION—proclaiming the GOOD NEWS of the coming kingdom, and “feeding the sheep”—is  a combined administration and function of the Church.

The individual lay member HAS HIS VITAL PART in proclaiming the GOOD NEWS (gospel) to the world. How? Not by going out and himself proclaiming Christ’s message to the neighbourhood or to the world. That is done primarily by the apostles, to some extent by evangelists, and to an even lesser extent in local areas by local pastors. (The chief responsibility of local pastors is supervision of and preaching to the local church.)

But the ENTIRE CHURCH OPERATION is one WHOLE, organized into various operations and administrations (1Cor.12: 5-6).

‘Fear of Failure’

‘If you are unwilling to try for fear of failure, you have already failed! Failure from trying is not failure, but DISCOVERY’!

‘If you allow failure to destroy you, it will! If you USE failure to become better; YOU MUST!

Do true Christians in these ‘last days’ remain frozen to inaction for fear of failure? Like the man with the one talent, in the ‘parable of the talents’, feared failure and simply buried his talent?

As this world continues to spin out of control into a downward vortex of events leading to and culminating in the ‘grand smash climax’ known as the Great Tribulation—do-have-are God’s true people of the one-true-Church taking the time to become much MUCH stronger through application of God’s truth in our lives? DESPITE the fear of experiencing some failure?

Those Philadelphian members of God’s true Church are soon to find themselves in the crossroads of world events—and then the place of safety. We must become READY!

‘Je Suis Charlie! Je Suis Jesus!!’

It is ironic that increasingly, Islamofascist thug terrorists carry out murderous acts against innocents standing in their way, duty bound to defend the honour of their false prophet in the name of ‘Allahu Akbar’. The obvious question that goes unanswered in all of this is; if this ‘god’ is so great, could he not take care of his own affairs without having to  depend on blood thirsty religious sadists killing and maiming people in the most banal and sub-human ways imaginable? Perhaps this so-called ‘god’ is too busy relieving himself to fend for himself?? The absolute detachment from normal human emotion and thought processes continues to be lost in all of this mindlessness. This kind of debasement in our human experience is fortunately about to come to a climactic end with the soon coming advent of the Great God in the person of His true Son, Jesus Christ.

Recently millions marched in the streets of Paris standing in solidarity with the defenceless and harmless massacred victims, editors of the satire newspaper known as ‘Charlie Hebdo’. Their refrain was: ‘Je Suis Charlie’! That is: ‘I am Charlie’! Their only ‘sin’ was that of exercising their societal right to exercise ‘free speech’. Along with them, Muslim Jihadists also terrorized patrons in a kosher supermarket slaughtering four  innocent Jewish bystanders who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The true refrain that will take away all of the heartache and all of the pain and suffering from this present evil world is that of: ‘Je Suis Jesus’! That is: ‘I am Jesus’! Very soon now, the world will stand and walk in solidarity with the glorified Jesus Christ, when He establishes His utopian millennial kingdom here on earth.

This recent all-to-brief moment, frozen in time, when peoples of the world cast off their political, religious and ideological differences. Locked arms and marched in unison in support of one of the great founding principles of the western nations. That is, freedom based on free speech. Sadly, any lasting effect has been muted. That is about to change in the now soon coming Wonderful World Tomorrow—‘Je Suis Jesus’!

 I say Christ’s gospel – the message He brought from God – was the advance good news of the establishment of the Kingdom of God.

              But just what does that include?

And why is the Kingdom of God necessary?

Actually, Christ’s message of God’s coming Kingdom is directly concerned with world conditions as they are – with world evils, suffering unhappiness – with world peace. It’s concerned with government – with the reason present human governments fail to be the benefactors of their peoples they are supposed to be.

His message hits directly at the very roots of individual personal happiness and at the awesome transcendent potential of each human life. It is concerned with the CAUSES of present conditions that affect every human and with the WAY that will solve all problems.

But it is concerned with far, far more.

It is concerned with God’s tremendous, overwhelming, overall purpose as Creator of the entire universe. It’s concerned with the entire vast universe, filled with its uncountable galaxies, nebulae, suns, stars, planets, and with God’s purpose for them. It’s concerned with all the angels – with the fact that one third of all God’s created angels turned to SIN from which there can be no redemption and God’s great purpose and plan to prevent such a catastrophe happening to the other two thirds.

Most of these things are never remotely considered in religious teachings in this world.  God’s message is concerned with overall truth.

In this in-depth study of the Bible, I had the use of all the biblical helps – concordances, Greek–English and Hebrew–English lexicons, commentaries, Bible dictionaries and religious encyclopaedias. The latter three of these, I found, were the works of scholarly but carnal minds. In historical facts and matters of a material nature, they give help in research, but in God’s revelation of spiritual knowledge I found them of little help.

‘The Rest of the Story’

Many years ago a world famous American broadcaster (whose uncanny style and tone strongly resembled the leading World Tomorrow presenter of the time) coined a phrase for his oft repeated monologue; ‘The Rest of the Story’. The iconic quintessential American broadcaster Paul Harvey was highly successful at stirring the interest of his audience in closing with these true stories. He would peak peoples interest with some well know story and then conclude with the not-so-well-known background to the story. To say the least, it had a way of grabbing your interest. It got your attention!

After a casual read of the Bible, one would be inclined to ask, yes but what is the ‘rest of the story’ or indeed the not-so-obvious or real message of the Bible? Scholars, intellects and intellectuals have all taken their turn at trying to explain the REAL MEANING of the Bible—with little success!

The Old Testament is a detailed interaction between the ‘God’ of the Old Testament and His chosen people Israel. It conveys the essential truth that if His people would only obey His covenant, then they could expect to be blessed and blessed tremendously. If not, then they would incur the curses that come from the breaking of God’s Law.

Apologists for the New Testament declare with certainty that the Old Testament Law has now (under the New Covenant) been completely done away and is now replaced by ‘Grace’ and grace alone! This portrays the God of the Bible as some kind of incompetent, psychologically unstable, constantly changing being that the average person cannot keep up with (never mind understand!)

General Douglas MacArthur correctly concluded in his memorable speech before the U.S. congress that “it must be of the spirit if we are to save the flesh”.

Old Testament Israel generally and at times was able to keep God’s Law in the letter (that is with an unchanged heart). Keeping God’s Law in the spirit must be done through the power of God’s Holy Spirit. It is the only way.

The entire world is about to have a ‘road to Damascus moment’. It is about to ‘meet its Maker’ with the introduction of the New Covenant to the nations of Israel at the now very near second coming of Jesus Christ and then to the entire Gentile world. (It has already been introduced to the New Testament Church.)

The same Person who gave the Law on Mount Sinai to Moses, gave the summary of the New Covenant to the disciples 1,400 years later (Matt. 5, 6, 7). (The rest of the story is summarized in the so-called ‘Sermon on the Mount’.)

The New Covenant / Testament is the ‘Rest of the Story’.

Radio commentator Rush Limbaugh recently commented that—“no political movement or power can change human nature”. We would add—ONLY GOD’S SPIRIT CAN!!

The Old Covenant controlled human nature. The New Covenant changes it!

To paraphrase Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong: Every human being is born with carnal nature which is a nature that is concerned with and purely oriented toward the physical. At birth we are then subjected to the pulls of the spirit of this world and are then injected with human nature which is Satan’s nature. The only way we can overcome this is by having the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit. This is the long sought after and little understood KEY to being born again into the soon coming world ruling Kingdom or government of God.

Indeed God is in the process of ‘reproducing Himself’. Therefore we must (through the Holy Spirit) have the love of God shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Rom. 5: 5)—so that we can then be partakers of the divine nature (11Pet. 1: 4).

That is the ultimate ‘Rest of the Story’.

‘The REAL JESUS and Tithing’

If Jesus were here today, what would He be doing? What are His followers to be doing?

Seal up the words to the time of the end, many shall run to and fro (Dan. 12: 4)—we are in that time! This Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached as a witness to all, the world and then shall the end come (Mat. 24: 14)….Accept those days shall be shortened there should no flesh be saved alive (cf. Mat. 24: 22). There is literally no other time like this, with the onrush of the convergence of events that clearly and ominously portend the end of civilization as we know it.

During Jesus Christ’s earthly ministry, His literal Body then (when on earth 27- 31 A.D.) was filled with the Holy Spirit. His figurative body now is to be FILLED with the Holy Spirit—to do what? And greater works than these shall you do because I go to My Father (John 14: 12).

The original apostles used the means methods facilities available in their day to preach the true Gospel to the known world this included introducing the historical and real Jesus. Since He was a new figure and quite unknown to the masses (unlike today, although the one known now is false), the responsibility of the original apostles was to explain who He was. The message today in most religious circles has been so gutted and altered that it no longer resembles what the original apostles were teaching, but rather His true Gospel of the Kingdom has been jettisoned and substituted with a message about an entirely false Jesus and another Gospel ‘about Christ’ (11Cor. 11:  4).

How do these religious hucksters fund their works?  Certainly tithing is not mentioned for this would be focusing on God’s law, which they preach has been done away. Hence they resort to all kinds of inventive ideas such as offerings, sales pitches, merchandise for money, begging, pleading, donations, and promises of financial blessings if one would only just give to what is in their minds the obvious ‘work of the Lord’. With this kind of begging and nagging, the average person’s concept of religion is that of a pathetic spectacle of these various organizations and preachers constantly pressuring for money.

Preparing-The-Way!

John the Baptist (a type of Elijah) prepared the way before the first coming, a work of, at the most about 1 ½ years? The work of preparing-the-way before His second coming began in the modern era in about 1934 and has continued to be done through His true followers, even until His soon to occur reappearance. The work of preparing-the-way is being accomplished through the dispensing of the twofold Great Commission of: ‘Preach the Gospel and Feed the Flock’. [This makes ready a people prepared for their God.] The New Testament ‘Temple or Church’ that He will return to!

Although robbing a bank might be an option for some so called Christians, (since most feel that the law has been done away with anyway) in order to fund such a massive operation. Realistically, funding for such a venture obviously would have to be done in some other way.

In the second to last chapter of the Old Testament, (if it wasn’t important, why would they [restate] it at the end?) the prophet Malachi (B.C. 460) was inspired by the one who became Jesus Christ to command?! His true followers to tithe!!

Malachi 3:7-10
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from
mine [ordinances], and have not kept them, Return unto me
and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of Hosts, But ye
said, Wherein shall we return?

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me, But ye say,
Wherein have we robbed ye? In tithes and offerings.
Ye are cursed with a curse; for ye have robbed me, even
this whole nation.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be
meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the
Lord of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven,
and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

These verses on tithing are prefaced in (verse 1) with the work of God done by John the Baptist and then Jesus Christ Himself. Again the verses that follow (8-12), explain how this ongoing activity is to be funded. Whether it was by the money from the ’bag’ carried by Judas one of the twelve, or the tithe monies given to the apostle Paul and others, or the truly massively funded operation in our day at it’s zenith reaching a mind boggling 200 million dollars annually.

Since the New Testament Church was founded on the apostles and the prophets (Old Testament), Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone (Eph. 2: 20)…. and Malachi was a prophet who taught the law of tithing. This doctrine therefore would have been central to the New Testament Church. In fact, most of the Bible in existence at that time was the Old Testament Canon. And remember, this was all inspired by the Word, Logos, Spokesman, the same person who became Jesus Christ, who said; ‘I change not therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed’ (Mal. 3:6) and ‘Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever’! (Heb. 13: 8). The only difference between the law in the Old Testament and the New Testament is that it now is written in our hearts by the Holy Spirit instead of on tables of stone. And the ritual or sacrificial law has been rescinded at least during the New Testament dispensation (since Christ is our literal Passover sacrifice).

We might ask why it is that the Apostle Paul’s writings seem to be bereft of any direct citations in the way of commands to tithe—rather there being a number of oblique references? One possibility is that under Roman law, it was illegal to ‘tithe’ to any ‘sect’, or in there minds ‘sub-sects’ of the religion of Judaism. The early New Testament Church of God under Roman law was an illegal entity. This is one reason why we see a continual dance between Judaism (state recognized) of that day and the full or entire truth.

We could ask, whose tithes are they? Who owns them? We read where ‘All the gold is mine’ (Hag. 2: 8), implying that God owns everything! And yet He allows us to keep ninety percent of our income, requiring that we give back to Him only ten percent. And then He promises to bless the faithful tithe payer on that ten percent! There are literally endless accounts of God’s people being blessed over the decades—what we are challenged to do is test Him at His word. Many have been inclined to say ‘I can’t afford to tithe’, when the real answer to that question is that ‘one can’t afford not to’!

The first account of tithing in the Bible is recorded in the account of the slaughter of the kings (Gen. 14: 18-20). Where Abraham the ‘Father of the Faithful’ the main Old Testament personality presumably that all Christians would want to emulate—actually brought tithes to the exact same ‘person’  who later became Jesus Christ! Melchizzadek priest of the most high, prince of Salem received tithes from Abraham. This is later confirmed, that as Abraham gave tithes to this individual, the New Testament Church is to continue doing the same to the individual or ‘priest’ of the New Testament, Jesus Christ—that  is where His figurative ‘body’ is doing His Work!

In closing, let us consider some thoughts on what the New Testament Melchizzadek in the person of Jesus Christ had to say about this entire issue.

…first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made [like] unto the Son of God; abides a priest continually. (Heb. 7: 2-3)

Since Melchizzadek is Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is Melchizzadek, and this represents an ongoing priesthood—we, as Abraham, are to pay tithes to that priesthood.

…Levi also, who receives tithes, pays tithes in Abraham. (Heb. 7: 9)

For even Levi (or, the levitical priesthood) paid tithes IN Abraham to Melchizzadek.

In the intervening years (from Moses to Jesus Christ) the Levites received tithes in lieu of Melchizzadek who ABIDES A PRIEST CONTINUALLY! (Heb. 7: 3)

The Levites from Moses to Christ, received tithes on behalf of Melchizzadek.

We must be certain that we are paying our tithes to Melchizzadek (who is Jesus Christ) and His work, where it is being effected. Our tithes go to Jesus Christ / Melchizzadek!

… ‘abides a priest continually’ (Heb. 7: 3)

Melchizzadek abides a priest continually, UNBROKEN / UNCHANGING!

In the World Tomorrow, Jesus Christ will be right here on earth to receive tithes on behalf of the government of God and the Levitical priesthood which will again be functioning in some way.

He is / will be both Prince and Priest!

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter…

From time immemorial the question that has begged to be answered is this—where is this Melchizzadek or Body of Christ? When you find where He / it is—that is the / obvious / activated / authorized / functioning / of that unique activity, you will have found where Jesus Christ and His work is. This is where we (as Abraham and the New Testament Church) are COMMANDED to send our tithes.

Then the supreme God is going to intervene before that happens. And He is not going to intervene until we learn our lesson. Humanity won’t learn—I can tell you the way to peace. But you won’t believe me! You men right here won’t believe me! The world won’t believe me! I can’t bring you peace unless you would believe me, and you won’t! I’m speaking very plainly. I represent that Higher Power, and I know what He proposes! And I know what He is going to do! And He won’t do it until we have punished ourselves, to the place where we are willing to submit to Him. The trouble is, neither side in this problem that you are having here right now is willing to submit to that higher power. And as long as you won’t, you are going to fight and have trouble. Reflections….

Because of an absolute dearth of true leadership, the world stands idly by witnessing the imminent collapse of the ‘Great Nation’ of prophecy—that is Manasseh or the U.S.A. This is due to a complete void in right morals, true principles and national consciousness based on right and wrong. When the Bible speaks of this ‘present evil world’ (Gal. 1: 4), this characterization could not be more accurate. Great leaders are strangely absent from almost every field of endeavour, whether it be politics, academia or religion. With the possible exception of the current prime ministers of Canada and Israel and perhaps a very few others, where have they all gone?

“Where, O where have all the great leaders gone….long time passing…long time ago”. The world is a much poorer place without them!

“Men since the beginning of time have sought peace. Various methods through the ages have been attempted to devise an international process to prevent or settle disputes between nations. From the very start, workable methods were found in so far as individual citizens were concerned, but the mechanics of an instrumentality of larger international scope has never been successful. Military alliances, balances of power, Leagues of Nations, all in turn failed, leaving the only path to be by way of the crucible of war. The utter destructiveness now blocks out this alternative. We have had our last chance. If we will not devise some greater and more equitable system, Armageddon will be at our door. The problem basically is theological and involves a spiritual recrudescence and improvement of human character that will synchronize with our matchless advances in science, art, literature and all the other material and cultural developments of the last 2000 years. It must be of the spirit if we are to save the flesh”.

‘The Doctrine of the Gospel

Jesus Christ came into Galilee preaching the ‘Gospel [Good News] of the Kingdom of God’ and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the Gospel”. (Mk. 1: 14-15) Within these two verses, is a succinct summary of Christ’s mission on earth! The question is, is this still His mission, even though He is now in the third heaven. Is it now something different? Has it changed? If He were on earth today, would He somehow have CHANGED His message to conform to the more ‘current’ messages of the mainstream ‘Christianity’ of today?

Let us consider the implications of a different message other than the one Christ preached. In Mathew the 24^th chapter and verse 14, we are told that ‘this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached as a witness to all, the world and then shall the end come’! It is hard to miss the importance, the absolute necessity of proclaiming the exact same message that Jesus preached so that the end can come!  Indeed, as verse 22, explains, the world in the last days depends on the accomplishment of this all important activity in order to survive! Also, 2nd Corinthians the 11th chapter verse 4 tells us; ‘For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another Gospel , which you have not accepted, you might well bear ‘with him’ – or ‘with me’ – that is the apostle Paul or what he taught!

Many years ago, a very prominent minister in the Church of God taught that a good title for the Bible might well be, ‘the History of the Nation of Israel’. This is a fairly good definition, although it leaves something out. One might ask, yes but, what is the purpose of the nation of Israel? In effect, what is God doing here below? Does He have a purpose, and if so – what is that purpose? Many years ago, the prime minister of Great Britain, Sir Winston Churchill, in speaking before the U.S. Congress said; “there is a great purpose being worked out hear”. However, Prime Minister Churchill did not know what that purpose was.

The one-true-church in the last days has clearly understood that the Bible is first and foremost, a book about government! That, in effect, at the original creation, the angels ‘shouted for joy’ (Job 38: 7), at the awesome creation of the entire vast universe (including the earth). And then as we read in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28, one third of the angels under Lucifer, were given responsibility to administer the ‘government of God’, on earth. In summary, after a massive rebellion and ‘war in heaven’, these angels, (now fallen spirits) were cast down, bringing about the utter destruction of the earth’s surface. No longer able to sustain life of any kind, the earth became without form and void.  Interestingly, in the last days, humanity has now again come to the place where, except for the intervention of a ‘strong hand from some place’, this world again would become without form and void. Also the term, ‘smite the earth with a curse’ in Malachi 4: 6, means literally UTTER DESTRUCTION!

The identity of the nation of Canada is dependant upon the operation, the functioning the existence of the Government of Canada. Without the government of a nation, that nation becomes a none existent entity. The Government of Canada, defines, upholds laws, a constitution, regulations, expectations etc. Without the government of Canada, there is no Canada. Without the Government of God, there is no Kingdom of God!

The rebellion of Lucifer (now Satan and his demons), removed the government of God from earth. The great purpose that is being worked out here below is that God is going to re-establish His government, His Kingdom on earth. And God said; “let us make man in our image after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth”; (Gen. 1: 26).

Is the government of God now being administered by the Kingdom or family of God on earth? No!! The first Adam upon being given the opportunity rejected the tree of life.   Thus consigning his descendants to continue under the sway and influence of Satan (still on earth’s throne), until the ‘second Adam’ should come and qualify, and then replace him at His second coming.  In briefest summary, this was accomplished during what is commonly referred to as ‘Christ’s temptation’, recorded in; (Matt. 4 and Luke 4). Christ the second Adam, having done what the first Adam was given the opportunity and failed to do, went on to become humanities ‘sin bearer’ through Roman crucifixion and death, thus making it possible to reconcile humanity to God. By accepting Christ as our personal saviour, we have the priceless privilege of going on to be ultimately ‘born into’ the Kingdom of God.  This has everything to do with the preaching of the Kingdom of God.

There could never be a Kingdom of God without a family of God to administer that government. Christ is now, through His church and a select group of ‘called-out-ones’ preparing to bring about all of this in this present generation. The Church is the Kingdom of God in embryo – it is now in training, learning to live by the Bible or constitution of that Kingdom so that they can become co-saviours in the World Tomorrow. The Bible deals with the Kingdom of God in every important aspect, from beginning to end. Some people are inclined to limit the preaching of the Kingdom of God to three words: [Kingdom of God]. This would be like limiting the Bible to its title or theme: [Kingdom of God]. Why go to the trouble of writing enormous manuscripts, if the title or theme was all that was important? The Bible is a book of over 1,200 pages  which goes into great minute detail of the theme. The theme of the Bible is the Kingdom of God!

The preaching of the Kingdom of God entails a broad understanding of the entire Bible that of Who and What is God? What and why is man? The truth about angels and fallen spirits! The truth about the Nation of Israel! And of Civilization! It includes the understanding of why the Church? It certainly also includes the ultimate millennial rule of the conquering Jesus Christ and the saints!

Indeed the preaching of the Kingdom of God has to do with overall truth! And of course the Bible is the written Word of truth!

Yes, Jesus came into Galilee preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Everything He breathed did and taught had everything to do with the Kingdom of God. He fulfilled His mission on earth. The question that is waiting to be answered – is – will all of God’s people do the same thing? This should be of great concern to God’s people. For those who will recall, the most important – yes the very reason for our being called now is to preach the Gospel. The reason why so many people were attracted to the Worldwide Church of God was because they understood the importance of fulfilling the GREAT COMMISSION! This twofold commission of [1] preach the Gospel, and [2] feed the flock, is the reason why we have been called now! And we must know what the true Gospel is in order to proclaim it!  This is what drew MANY people to support Mr. Armstrong from 1933 going forward. He was the ONLY one in that time period who exemplified the passion, the foresight and the unwavering determination to accomplish the formidable task of fulfilling the Great Commission! That is the ongoing purpose of the Church in the last days.  What are God’s people waiting for??
